We all have a story.  Here is mine.

It all began when I was told my job was gone.

I knew my manager was talking but I honestly couldn’t hear the words.  All I could think of was, “I’m unemployed!”  That was 2017.  I was working as a Volunteer Coordinator for a small health centre and due to government funding cuts, my position was being eliminated.  In the space of 2 hours,  my desk was packed up and I was out the door.  Was I upset?  You bet.  I didn’t realize at the time what a gift I had been given.

With the help of a great career coach, I got back on my feet.  Together, we explored new career opportunities, developed a killer resume, and dusted off my interview skills.  Within 4 months, I had the job of my dreams….then, one year later, I was laid off again!

This time around, though, the job market was tighter.  But the skills I had honed during my previous job search, along with my experience working as an Employment Coach and Workshop Facilitator for an employment services agency paid off.   I now have the opportunity to fulfill two passions in my life – providing support to people living with cancer and their families, and helping people to secure work that sparks the passion within them.  I am one lucky woman!

“How does she know what I’m feeling? Her life is nothing like mine.”

As you can see from my story above, my life hasn’t always been rosy.  Just like many of my clients – and possibly you – I’ve had my challenges.   I’ve been where you are now.  I’ve worked in jobs that have sapped my energy and life.  I’ve worked for poor managers and in toxic environments.  And I’ve ridden the roller coaster of emotions that go along with being unemployed.  I can relate to your feelings of anger, discouragement, and fear because I’ve been where you are now.  But I also know that, with the proper skills and tools, and someone to support you every step of the way, you can secure work that enriches your life, personally and professionally.  It is possible.

The people I work with see their career through new eyes. They create a life they love.
